Hypnosis

Hypnosis…What a marvelous tool! There is hypnosis for fun and playfulness, hypnosis for healing pain, hypnosis to ease distress, hypnosis to find out important information, and hypnosis to make you heal faster after surgery. Hypnosis in the form of hypnotherapy, in the hands of a trained professional, is a marvelous thing.

Who Am I?

My name is Dr. Judith L. Cameron. I formed the business, Cosmic Angel Enterprises, LLC, which Cosmic Angel Hypnotherapy is part of. I became a hypnotherapist because hypnosis is an amazing tool to share with your clients. Through teaching people how to do self-hypnosis, they are able to continue whatever hypnotherapy you may have provided for them. It is also a way that they can begin to solve many of their own problems without professional assistance.

Hypnosis: Myths and Realities

The word hypnosis comes from the Greek word hypnos, which means “sleep.” Some psychologists and hypnotherapists believe that hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness during which people respond to suggestions and behave as though they are in a trance. A few aren’t so sure. Hypnosis began with the ideas of an Austrian doctor named Franz Mesmer in the late 1700’s. In fact, that is where the word mesmerize comes from. Maybe you have heard a phrase used such as, “The cat was totally mesmerized by the dangling string.” Today, hypnotism may be used in a variety of ways. As an example, some doctors use hypnosis as an anesthetic in certain types of surgery. Hypnotherapists use it to help clients reduce anxiety, manage pain, overcome fears, and much more.

People who are easily hypnotized are said to have hypnotic suggestibility. They are able to focus on the instructions of the hypnotist without getting distracted. Suggestible people usually enjoy the idea of being hypnotized and are not resistant to it. It is not true that it is possible to hypnotize any person at any time. People must have a positive attitude toward hypnosis and a willingness to cooperate with the hypnotist for hypnosis to be successful. If you have never tried hypnosis and are curious about its affects, I suggest you go to a professional hypnotist and have yourself put under simply to feel complete relaxation. You will leave feeling centered, focused and above all, refreshed.
